I've loved Gail Carson Levine's past outings, especially Ella Enchanted. Man, that was a good book. (hated the movie, if you wanted to know) Sadly, this one didn't quite do it for me. It was okay, but that's it.

I liked Elodie just fine (that's EHlodie, not Lodie, thank you very much). She was fun, likable, and I thought she was quite clever. I liked the idea of cat trainers because I'm a cat lover and YEAH RIGHT that you can train cats. But come on. How many of us have tried? I have...

The story was fine. It just didn't really pull me in. I couldn't quite muster the energy to really care for Count Jonty Um, even with someone plotting against him. I love a good plotting situation, but this one just wasn't quite there.

Don't get me wrong. I didn't hate this book. Not even close. It really was okay. It wasn't my favorite of Levine's books, but it was okay. I think younger people would like it a lot more than I did.

For me, this one is a 'Hmmmm' rating.
