Mercy - Rebecca Lim Interesting. That’s mostly what I have to say about this one.

I liked this book. Really, I did. I think it’s much better than the Goodreads synopsis makes it out to be. In fact, I think the synopsis needs to be rewritten, because a lot of what’s in the 2nd paragraph isn’t in the book. There *might* be a little hint here and there, but it definitely doesn’t go into what’s written on Goodreads. I think it’s probably set up to go into the next book in the series. Fine.

Anyway, aside from not getting what I thought I was getting, this was a pretty good book. I liked the concept of Mercy helping humanity through a series of hosts (who seem to be none the worse for the wear). I like that she’s strong and helps her hosts to be strong too. I like this concept of angels (again, just alluded to…never spoken outright) better than a lot of the recent angel books. This one is dark, so very dark, and yet satisfying.

A lot of people have said that they didn’t figure out the bad guy until the very end. I’ll admit it. I saw that one coming. It seemed very obvious to me. But then again, I watch Criminal Minds, so maybe I’m slowly getting trained to see the signs. :P Okay, maybe not. But still, I had the baddie pegged. Wasn’t surprised. Disgusted, yes. Surprised, no.

I thought the plot moved along nicely, though there were a few areas that had me scratching my head. Still trying to figure those out. But overall, quite good.

So really, engaging story, well-written characters, and a definite interest in the next book in the series. I’ll give this a ‘drool worthy’ rating.
